How does Termidor work?
Termidor has a range of products for different situations; Termidor dust and Termidor foam are used to treat active termites in buildings and the original Termidor liquid is used to treat soil around and under buildings to prevent concealed termite attack.
The insecticide in Termidor delivers a unique Transfer Effect™. Termidor is non-repellent, which means the termites cannot detect its presence. Termites walking through an area treated with Termidor pick up the insecticide on their body. However, it does not kill the termites immediately – they keep on moving and interacting with other termites for several hours. This allows some of the Termidor active ingredient to be passed on to other termites who have not been in direct contact with the treated area. This unique Transfer Effect™ magnifies the performance of Termidor, giving faster, more complete control.
Why use Termidor to protect your home?
When used as a treatment in the soil, the non-repellent characteristics of Termidor provides significant benefits over the older (and cheaper) termite products. These older products tend to be repellent to termites. Whilst this may sound like a good thing, in reality it is virtually impossible to create a perfect, continuous barrier around a home. Insecticides don't always flow evenly in the soil and when products are injected under concrete there is no way to see where the product has gone. When repellent products are used, termites can quite easily find any gaps in the treatment. In contrast, termites cannot detect any small gaps in a Termidor treatment to access your home, continually contacting the treated zone and dying.
